  • Check out the iconic shacks and boatsheds near the Nelson township or upstream near Donovans Landing
  • Further upstream, enjoy sightseeing in pristine wilderness

Skiers have their own designated zones, accessible from Simsons Landing

Elsewhere speed limits apply, making the river ideal for canoes and putt putt boats

There are picnic spots at designated landings along the river with picnic tables and BBQs provided - cast a line while the snags cook

You will find 3 launching ramps in the township and several more within a short drive of Arnold's Place

Nelson is also the closest town to Piccaninnie Ponds, best known of the cave diving and snorkelling sites in the Mt Gambier area. Ewens Ponds is a 20 minute drive away.
